I created this Aztec Sun Stone relief for someone who is drawn to symbols of time, movement, and ancient knowledge. The centered face, circular form, and detailed geometry give the piece a strong visual presence, making it a meaningful choice for someone who appreciates Mesoamerican art, history, and symbolic design.
The center of the Aztec Sun Stone is often understood to represent Tonatiuh, a solar figure connected with time, movement, and cosmic order. The surrounding forms reflect cycles, structure, and the measured passage of time. For many people, the Sun Stone carries a feeling of continuity, discipline, and connection to an ancient worldview.
The piece starts as solid beech wood and is CNC-carved to shape the central face, circular bands, geometric details, and layered relief. After carving, I hand-sand the surface and edges, then add laser detail to sharpen the smaller lines and preserve the dense structure of the design. A shellac finish gives the wood a warm natural tone and helps protect the surface.
This 7" x 7" x 0.5" carved wall art can be displayed on a gallery wall, shelf display, study wall, office space, or alongside other heritage and history-inspired pieces.
