This design is inspired by the ancient Egyptian winged sun disk, a symbol seen in temple art and royal carvings. I wanted this carving to keep that connection to ancient Egypt while still feeling clean and simple in a modern space. The solid wood gives it warmth, the carved depth makes it stand out, and the square shape makes it easy to pair with other wall art. It is a piece for someone who wants Egyptian wall art with meaning, quality, and a stronger presence than a flat print.
Each relief is carved from solid beech wood using CNC to create the main shape and raised depth. After carving, I hand-sand the surface and edges for a clean finished feel. Laser detailing helps bring out the wing feathers, sun disk, cobra details, and smaller carved lines. The piece is finished with shellac to help protect the wood while keeping its natural beauty visible.
