I carve this relief from solid hard maple, a strong and beautiful wood that gives the piece a clean, lasting feel. After CNC carving, I hand-sand the surface and edges, then use laser detailing to bring out the fine lines of the lion, sword, and sun rays. The piece is finished with shellac to give the maple a warm natural tone while helping protect the surface.
This 11" x 11" x 0.7" carved wood wall art works well as a main piece on a gallery wall, above a desk, in an office, family room, entryway, or any meaningful space where the symbol can be seen with presence and respect.
