I wanted this piece to feel connected to the old Persepolis reliefs, where every shape has a purpose and nothing feels random. The Lion and Bull scene has a quiet strength to it. It feels balanced, ancient, and full of meaning without needing to be loud.
The Lion and Bull is one of the well-known scenes from Persepolis, the ceremonial capital of the Achaemenid Empire. Many people understand it as a symbol of renewal, continuity, balance, and the rhythm of nature. It is not just a lion fighting a bull. The scene carries a deeper feeling of cycles, strength, and the order of life.
The piece starts as solid beech wood and is CNC-carved to shape the lion, bull, and layered relief. After carving, I hand-sand the surface and edges, then add laser detail to sharpen the smaller lines and keep the feeling of the original stone-inspired scene. A shellac finish gives the wood a warm natural tone and helps protect the surface.
This 7" x 7" x 0.5" carved wall art can be displayed in a study, office, hallway, bookshelf, desk area, or heritage-focused space where ancient art and meaningful symbols feel at home.
