I created this Sasanian Royal Horseman relief for someone who wants a piece with movement, history, and presence. The raised horse, flowing cloak, and detailed saddle give the scene a sense of leadership and momentum, making it a strong focal point for a study, office, or heritage-focused space.
In Sasanian art, mounted royal figures often represented authority, leadership, and the strength of rulership. The horseman is shown with purpose and control, while the richly detailed horse and clothing add a sense of status and ceremony. For someone connected to ancient Persian history, this piece carries the feeling of heritage, power, and continuity.
The piece starts as solid beech wood and is CNC-carved to shape the horse, rider, flowing cloak, saddle details, and layered relief. After carving, I hand-sand the surface and edges, then add laser detail to bring out the clothing, horse ornamentation, and fine lines of the scene. A shellac finish gives the wood a warm natural tone and helps protect the surface.
This 7" x 7" x 0.5" carved wall art works well on a gallery wall, mantel, display shelf, or beside other meaningful pieces where the motion of the horse and rider can stand out.
Personalization is available on the back of the piece. Text only. Add a name, date, short message, family note, milestone, memorial message, or meaningful phrase.
