I made this Buddha face and lotus flower relief for someone who wants a calm and beautiful piece of wall art. The peaceful face, lotus flowers, leaves, and carved border give the piece a soft and quiet feeling. What makes it special to me is the solid beech wood and the way it holds all the small details.
Beech is a strong hardwood with a smooth grain. That makes it a good wood for detailed carving. It gives the piece a clean surface, a warm natural color, and a solid feel. I wanted this wall art to feel like something you can keep and enjoy for many years.
I carve each relief from solid beech wood using CNC to create the main shape and depth. After carving, I hand-sand the surface and edges so the piece feels clean and finished. Laser detail helps bring out the Buddha face, lotus flowers, leaves, halo, and smaller carved lines. I finish the wood with shellac to help protect the surface while still showing the natural beauty of the beech wood.
This 7" x 7" x 0.5" carved wood wall art is easy to display on a bookshelf, desk area, entryway, home office, meditation corner, yoga room, bedroom, hallway, or personal wall. The square frame style also makes it easy to pair with other carved pieces from my shop if you want to build a calm and meaningful wall art collection over time.
