I was drawn to the double bull capital because it feels both architectural and symbolic. The mirrored bulls, column form, and balanced structure give this piece a sense of strength, stability, and ancient craftsmanship, making it a good fit for someone who appreciates Persepolis, Achaemenid art, and meaningful historical design.
The double bull capital is one of the most recognizable architectural forms from Persepolis. In the original palace structures, these paired bulls sat at the top of large stone columns and helped support the beams above them. Beyond their function, they also carry a feeling of order, balance, and permanence.
The piece starts as solid beech wood and is CNC-carved to shape the paired bulls, column details, scroll forms, and layered relief. After carving, I hand-sand the surface and edges, then add laser detail to sharpen the smaller lines and architectural details. A shellac finish gives the wood a warm natural tone and helps protect the surface.
This 7" x 7" x 0.5" carved wall art can be displayed on a gallery wall, shelf display, study wall, office space, or beside other heritage and architecture-inspired pieces.
