The confrontation between the heroic archetype and the Azhdaha belongs to the ancient foundations of Persian mythology. In early Persian thought, the Azhdaha represents chaos, tyranny, and destructive forces that threaten balance in the world. The figure of Garshasp, or the archetypal Persian dragon slayer, is defined not by personal glory, but by the responsibility to restore order and uphold moral balance.

This relief presents that mythic function rather than a historical event. The mounted figure represents Garshasp or the role he fulfills, the agent of restoration within an ancient worldview where harmony must be actively protected. The scene is not meant to dramatize combat, but to express a symbolic principle central to Persian mythology, that order is preserved through duty, restraint, and resolve.

Each piece is carved from solid beech wood using precision CNC carving, then carefully hand-sanded and laser-detailed to preserve the clarity of the figures, movement, and symbolic forms. A traditional shellac finish enhances the natural character of the wood while providing lasting protection for long-term display.

The relief measures 7" x 7" x 0.5", a balanced size suited for display in a living room, office, or personal space where ancient symbolism and meaning can be reflected upon rather than simply observed.

Each piece is made from natural solid wood. Grain patterns, tone variation, and small natural markings will vary from piece to piece and are part of the material’s character.

Personalization is available on the back of the piece. Text only. A name, date, or short message may be engraved to mark a meaningful intention, dedication, or connection to the values represented by the symbol.
