The Lamassu is an ancient Assyrian protective symbol traditionally placed at gateways and thresholds to guard what lies within. Combining a human head, a winged bull’s body, and a forward-moving stance, it represents vigilance, strength, and authority. For centuries, the Lamassu has stood as a guardian figure meant to watch over spaces of importance and protect against harm.
This relief presents the Lamassu in side profile, emphasizing its role as a guardian in motion. It reflects the Assyrian understanding of protection not as force alone, but as a balanced presence that combines awareness, stability, and resolve. This piece is intended for those who connect with ancient symbols of guardianship and boundary keeping, whether through history, identity, or personal meaning.
Each piece is carved from solid beech wood using precision CNC carving, then carefully hand-sanded and laser-detailed to preserve clarity in the wings, facial features, and body form. A traditional shellac finish enhances the natural character of the wood while protecting the surface for long-term display.
The relief measures 7" x 7" x 0.5", a balanced size suitable for placement near an entryway, office, or personal space where its protective symbolism can be appreciated daily.
Each piece is made from natural solid wood. Grain patterns, tone variation, and small natural markings will vary from piece to piece and are part of the material’s character.
Personalization is available on the back of the piece. Text only. A name, date, or short message may be engraved to mark a meaningful connection, intention, or milestone.
